Kris Allen was set to appear at the L.A. Spring Fair over the weekend, but when it was canceled, the 'American Idol' alum arranged a secret show at West Hollywood's Viper Room, where he unveiled a new song to his elated fans.

Allen and his band performed under the name Sirk and the Dirty Minds, and gave a little bit of insight as to how the new track came to be. "This song is kind of a joke, but it's kind of not," Allen began.

He continued, "So, I was working with these guys and we were writing a song together, and the verse was going really well. We were like, 'Oh, the verses feel so good and we got the melody for the chorus, and it's like, ooooooooh! Smash!' That's what they were saying. And then I was like, man, this just isn't working, and we started playing something and it kind of went like this."

'Shut That Door,' as it is being called for now, has a strong country vibe. Although the singer is known for his pop sensibility, the new song comes as a refreshing change. He sings in the chorus:

"Shut that door and keep that devil out / Shut that door and keep that devil out / You got no business being around / Shut that door and keep that devil out / Tell all of your friends around this town / Shut that door and keep that devil out."

Allen released his self-titled album in 2009, which featured three singles, 'Live Like We're Dying,' 'The Truth' and 'Alright With Me.'
