Lady Gaga finally commented on "Furgate," the media controversy surrounding the fact that she has been seen wearing fur, which caught the attention of and inspired the ire of PETA. She did not admit to wearing animal pelts. She did not deny it, either.

We're not even going to address the fact that she's been wearing fur in the dog days of one of the hottest summers on record, especially that hot pink coat and hat in which she was photographed. Wearing heavy furs in the summer is ridiculous, regardless of your animal rights opinions.

Regardless, Ma Monster issued a post on her LittleMonsters.com website, but she was incredibly vague. She didn't condone wearing fur, nor did she deny that she does. She claimed that she considers fur fashions to be works of art and also told little monsters she loves their dedication to animal rights, while expressing disappointment at PETA's methodology.

She also shouted out Kim Kardashian, who PETA also pinpointed in its initial rant against Gaga. The Monster was further criticized by actor Alan Cumming for wearing fur.

At least Gaga acknowledged the drama and her apparent change of heart, since she once told Ellen on her namesake show that she hated fur. She admitted to trying to stay away from skinned fur, but if she sees one that is breathtaking, she'll cave. However, she would not comment on the authenticity or synthetic nature of the furs she wears.

Without getting too argumentative about the issue, we're a bit disappointed in Gaga, since she cares so much about the plight of the underdog and those who are preyed upon by others. We'd think her compassion would extend to ALL creatures being bullied, including animals killed for their pelts. Just sayin'.

Below is the entire unedited text of her post.

FURGATE PART 1
To the fans. i want you to know that I care deeply about your feelings and views, and I will always support your philosophies about life. We've been having over-arching conversations about society, equality, and politics for the past five years, and we should continue. I do not however support violent, abusive, and childish campaigns for ANY CAUSE. Particularly one that I respect. "Animal Rights." I am choosing not to comment on whether or not the furs I purchase are faux fur-pile or real because I would think it hypercritical not to acknowledge the python, ostrich, cow hide, leather, lamb, alligator, "kermit" and not to mention meat, that I have already worn. This should already put me in a category as one who appreciates and adores the beauty of animals in fashion, but am not a strict vegan. I have truly always stayed away from skinned fur, especially i have never been able to afford a nice one, but this does not mean my morals are rigid and that I won't bend at the sight of an absolute art piece of a coat. I have no chains about this. You see a carcass, I see a museum pièce de résistance. But I am truly sorry to fans who are upset by this, its a fair and applaudable feeling about the health and safety of animals. I respect your views, please respect mine. And to campaigners, Save your flour to make bread for the children who are hungry. And Kim Kardashian is fabulous.
