Directioners and Mixers haven't always seen eye-to-eye since Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards—a former member of One Direction and a member of Little Mix, respectively—ended their engagement in August. Still, they'd be smart to make nice, because a head-on collision might be on its way.

According to a story published to Heatworld on Saturday (September 27), Jade Thirlwall told The Sun that a certain member of One Direction is eyeing a writing spot on Little Mix's next project if and when 1D goes on hiatus. The ladies' third album, Get Weird, will be available on November 6.

"We definitely want to collaborate with One Direction," Thirlwall said. "We saw Liam at the iTunes gig and he said he wanted to write with us for the next album, so that would be good."

An anonymous source told The Sun in August that One Direction's days are numbered, and that they don't even plan to go on tour to promote their forthcoming fifth album, Made in the A.M. Little Mix, on the other hand, are all in for Get Weird, and debuted a brand new song, "Grown," at the Apple Music Festival earlier this month. They also recently teased a retro-sounding track called "Love Me Like You."

And while an official crossover has yet to happen between the bands, we did get a taste of what a potential partnership could feel like. On Saturday, as part of Capital FM's #Instaoke game, the ladies were challenged to sing 1D's hit, "Drag Me Down." Awkward? Certainly didn't seem like it—Little Mix handled the tune like pros, and Perrie even took a commanding lead.
