The studio version of "Just Hold On," the collaboration between Louis Tomlinson and DJ-producer Steve Aoki, has hit YouTube — listen above.

It takes a certain kind of deep inner strength to persevere in the wake of tragedy. On December 10, One Direction star-turned-solo act Louis Tomlinson exemplified this by making his solo debut live onstage at The X Factor UK live finals in the U.K.

Alongside producer Steve Aoki, Tomlinson premiered his debut single, a shimmering EDM anthem called "Just Hold On," on Saturday (December 10)—just three days after he lost his mother, Johannah Deakin, to cancer.

Afterwards, the singer's mentor and X Factor judge, Simon Cowell, shared a few heartfelt words with Tomlinson.

"I've known you now for six years. What you've just done and the bravery... I respect you as an artist, I respect you as a person — it's true — and you know, your mum was so proud of you Louis," Cowell shared. "She was so looking forward to tonight. She's watching down on you now and you've done her proud."
