Louis Tomlinson Asked Steve Aoki to Collaborate Via Twitter DM
Courtship in the year 2017 has devolved into impersonal contact, as potential suitors will often reach out via social media to contact a potential love interest. It isn't the most effective dating method, but according to Louis Tomlinson, it's the best way to start a professional relationship with DJ Steve Aoki.
The "Live While We're Young" singer revealed the origin story of his collaboration with Aoki during an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden, explaining he reached out via Twitter after seeing Aoki play a show one night.
"I was on holiday with my friends, actually, lad's trip in Vegas, livin' the dream," Tomlinson said. "And we happened to go watch one of Steve's shows, it was unbelievable. And after the night out, maybe a little bit tipsy, I sent Steve a message saying, 'Maybe we should work together.'"
Tomlinson debuted the track -- which the pair performed on The Late Late Show shortly after their brief interview -- back in January, days after his mother, Joanna Deakin, passed away from cancer.
The "History" singer opened up about his loss during an interview with Sirius XM's Hits 1 in Hollywood last month.
"At first…it’s not something that I feel 100% comfortable talking too much about, but just quickly, when I first found out about the news I kind of did want to throw the towel in,” Tominson said. “But it was my mum who said to me that I’ve just got to keep going. She told me very sternly that she wanted me to.”
“So I’m not doing it for her, but…we’re doing it for each other,” he continued.
