Madonna ‘Girl Gone Wild’ Video Restricted by YouTube
Madonna is no stranger to controversy or having her videos banned from airplay. Her smoking hot vid for 'Girl Gone Wild,' which dropped last week, has been restricted by YouTube, thanks to its sexified content, which includes some nudity and close ups of crotches.
The clip, which finds Madge cavorting with men dancing in high heels, can only be viewed by people age 18 and older, since the content is seen as inappropriate from some users. The powers-that-be at YouTube let the diva's handlers know that if they want the restriction lifted, an edited version be resubmitted, sans scenes of bare bottoms and both implied simulated masturbation. Those images must be left on the cutting room floor. Now where is the fun in that?
The New York Post reports that Madge's team has been working on a cleaner, more sanitized version, which is surprising since Madonna is the be all, end all queen of pop music and she takes no orders from anyone else about her vision or her art. However, a source said that she is willing to make a concession since she has employed an extensive digital marketing campaign and fans not being able to locate the video on the site, since it's been buried due to content, could hurt the promotion of 'MDNA.'
Madonna's longtime PR rep Liz Rosenberg commented, “Some things never change. This is a throwback to when MTV refused to show ‘Justify My Love.'" 22 years later and the Material Girl is still causing a commotion and being all sorts of sexalicious. We hope we are as hot when we're her age.
YouTube reps were diplomatic in their comments, choosing their words carefully, as they avoided calling Madge out. The reps said, “While we don’t comment on individual videos, we review all videos flagged by our users against our community guidelines. In some cases we age-restrict flagged material that, while not in violation of those guidelines, contains images that may be unsuitable for younger users.”
Madonna is such a modern icon. She breaks the Internet. Or at least its rules!
