After months of speculation, the worst kept secret in pop music has been confirmed: Madonna will indeed perform at the halftime show for Super Bowl XLVI, which will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Feb. 5. The game will air on NBC.

Madonna is already planning for the big show and she has partnered with Cirque de Soleil and Jamie King and multimedia artists Moment Factory to create a signature performance for what is officially known as the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show. The Super Bowl halftime event is usually one of the most TV events watched of the year – 162 million people in the U.S. tuned in last year -- so all eyes will be on Madge as she does her thing. That's Madge in her element, as the center of attention, with the world watching. We don't doubt that she will make this a night to remember, with plenty of visual spectacles.

One can surmise that the Material Girl will perform a medley of her most definitive hits. With a new album due out this spring, Madge has just landed the mother of all promotional opportunities to let the world know about a new album. Who doesn't watch the Super Bowl, you know?

Madonna is back in a big, big way.
