If you ask Mariah Carey, two divas can fit on one panel, thank you very much. The multi-octave legend has dismissed rumors of a beef with fellow newly minted 'American Idol' judge Nicki Minaj as nothing more than nonsense.

If you recall, mere hours after the new panel was officially announced, rumors of animosity began to swirl around the two curvalicious ladies -- which shouldn't be that surprising, since the media loves nothing more than pitting powerful women against one another. Seriously, why aren't there stories of Randy Jackson giving Keith Urban the side eye? Yeah, exactly.

Anyway, sources said that whenever Minaj began to critique contestants during the first taping, Carey would talk over her -- every. Single. Time. While we're sure that's not the most polite thing to do, it doesn't necessarily mean Mimi's being malicious. She may just be boisterous and not want to forget her commentary (though we agree she should wait her turn). There was also a tale that Mimi hung up on producers when they told her they were considering the 'Pound the Alarm' MC for the job. Cold!

However, during a press junket, Mimi shook off the chatter by explaining that there's simply not enough time for them to hate each other just yet. "How are we gonna feud in two days?" Carey laughed to MTV. "A feud takes a little longer to spread out [than that]. It's fun, it's music, it's singing, it's laughter!"

Perhaps to drive the point home, the Harajuku Barbie herself giggled alongside Mrs. Nick Cannon. No beef, nothing to see here, folks! Move it along. Unless the lady doth protest too much -- in which case, you better believe we'll be tuning in to find out.
