'X Factor' wannabe Melanie Amaro said she would rather singer than speak. The Sunrise, Fla. native selected Beyonce's 'Listen' for her 'X Factor' audition. The college freshman, who is all of 18-years-old, was not flashy, nor was she ultra glam. But the girl could sing her butt off, and that's just what she did. No frills. No tricks. She delivered a showstopping performance and got a standing ovation from the judges' table. So yes, she's moving on in the competition for a cool $5 million.

Simon Cowell asked her if she was good; she didn't need to answer that question. She needed to sing to effectively answer it, so she did.

Her performance made Nicole Scherzinger cry, while L.A. Reid told her she has the "X" factor and that her performance made all the things he walked away from as the chief of IDJ -- you know, working with Rihanna, Jay-Z, Kanye West -- in order to do the show worth it. Wow.

A weepy Scherzinger -- obviously the show's J Lo -- said that Amaro represents the reason she does this.

Cowell also said it's talents like her that are the reason that he brought the show to the United States.
