Neon Trees vs. Fun. – Sound Off

Neon Trees are killing it in our Sound Off series! The quartet from Utah has dominated the past two rounds with their new single 'Everybody Talks,' beating out Neon Hitch's 'F--- U Betta' yesterday and the Asteroids Galaxy Tour's 'Heart Attack' the day prior. Today, Neon Trees will take on Fun. in a battle of the songs, as we pit 'Everybody Talks' against Fun.'s hit single 'We Are Young,' which features Janelle Monae and was even covered by the 'Glee' cast.

On 'Everybody Talks,' Neon Trees provide fans with a finger-snapping, upbeat tune about gossip souring a potential relationship too soon. The verses on 'Everybody Talks' are centered around some guitar strumming and Tyler Glenn's sing-along vocals, until the song moves towards a more robust rock sound on the chorus. Conversely, Fun.'s song has much more solemn lyrics about a dysfunctional romance that even alludes to physical spars between two lovers. While the song has a catchy beat, a captivating chorus, and a closing hook of "na na na's" that bring the tune full circle, the melancholy piano keys and pounding drums reflect the tension in the lyrics.
