After Nicki Minaj's high-octane performance at 'American Idol' on Thursday night (March 29), the Young Money superstar chatted with the Hollywood Reporter about reality competition shows. The 'Starships' rapper was asked if she was an unknown artist would she auditioned for 'Idol,' 'The Voice' and 'X Factor.' The answer: No.

"It's very very difficult to be picked apart," Minaj explains to THR correspondent and 'Idol' season 9 alum Didi Benami. "I have to give it to the people that do these shows -- it takes a lot of heart, it takes guts, that rejection thing is heavy."

Well, Minaj doesn't have to worry about being rejected. On the eve of the release of her second album 'Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded' (due April 3), Minaj is ready to become pop music's rap idol.

"I'm blessed to put out an album that is not one-dimensional," she says about the collection. "I'm not boxed in, the world has given me the opportunity to express myself in lots of different genres of music. I'm truly showing myself, as oppose to feeling I have to do this because someone says I have to do this. That's how I measure success."
