Dealing with the opposite sex can make you feel like a 'Deer in the Headlights,' according to a flashy new song by Adam Young of Owl City from his forthcoming record 'All Things Bright and Beautiful.'

Young ditches his usual dreamy, ethereal style for layered, whirring synths that add a touch of dance music to the song, and we're loving the new direction.

Complementing the music are lyrics dripping with dry humor about Young's failures on the dating front: "Met a girl in the parking lot / And all I did was say hello / Her pepper spray made it rather hard for me to walk her home / But I guess that's the way it goes."

The synths drop out during the more rock-sounding chorus, when electric guitars take over as Young sings, "Tell me again was it love at first sight / When I walked by and you caught my eye / Didn't you know love could shine this bright / Well, smile because you're the deer in the headlights."

Easily the best Owl City song we've heard, 'Deer in the Headlights' joins previous single 'Alligator Sky' on 'All Things Bright and Beautiful,' due in stores on June 14.
