Justin Bieber's bad, bratty behavior has been the top pop story of 2013. Blunts. Multiple car incidents. Girl problems. Anne Frank guestbook gaffes. Key players -- mom Pattie Mallette, dad Jeremy Bieber and manager Scooter Braun -- have remained mum as they let a kid who's 19 be a kid who's 19. Mallette has broken her silence -- somewhat -- about her son's questionable actions as of late.

"I'm not naive to think that my child is perfect and making all the best decisions of his life," Mallette, 38, told 'Watch What Happens Live' (quote via PEOPLE).

She sees the saga unfolding before her eyes but knows it's not all bad saying, "He knows what I disagree with and he knows all the things that I'm really proud of him for, too."

Like any good mom, Mallette defended her baby, saying, "I mean, people don't talk about all the great things he does every day. Every night before a show, he meets with Make-a-Wish kids. He goes to sick kids' hospitals. He visits with them [and] takes his time. He gives back to charities."

Mama Bear Bieber does have a point. She has avoided talking to the press because most teens don’t appreciate their moms getting all up in their business in public. She is, however, there to support her son and be a sounding board.

"I just deal with whatever comes up, I think as you would if your kid was off to college and making decisions," she told 'ET Canada.' "You just … I just talk to him, I call him … and he knows what I think."

Judging from her comments, she is adopting a "boys will be boys" attitude.
