Robyn Joins MTV’s O Music Awards 2 as Headlining Performer
Though the Los Angeles venue has yet to be disclosed, we know this much: Swedish chanteuse Robyn will headline the O Music Awards 2 this Halloween.
Robyn's opening performance will air live on MTV at 11:30PM EST. Robyn will also perform several other times throughout the show, MTV reports. Other performers include Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Travie McCoy and special guests the Flaming Lips, who will pay tribute to Apple founder Steve Jobs. Even more performers and presenters will be announced throughout this week.
The awards celebrate digital music culture in all arenas, from artists to fans to innovators. The rest of the awards broadcast on mobile devices and online at OMusicAwards.com, MTV.com, VH1.com, CMT.com, LogoTV.com and MTVHive.com.
The online awards show also strives for a Guinness record for the world's longest dance party in history. The marathon is designed to raise awareness for LGBT issues, allowing fans to donate to the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, It Gets Better, the Gay Straight Alliance Network, Human Rights Campaign and GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation). Keeping with the Internet spirit of the awards, the party will stream online beginning Oct. 29 from the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, and fans can also utilize social media to cheer on their favorite dancers and raise awareness for the causes via Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.
Fans can vote for their favorite artists at OMusicAwards.com -- for a sweet reward! The fan who drives the most votes will be featured on the live show. So far the most dedicated voters have been for Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato and Adam Lambert, each with a "Fan Army FTW" nomination. Other nominees include Tyler, the Creator; Katy Perry, Lil Wayne, Iron Maiden and Nirvana.
With such a stellar line up and innovative format, the show is sure to be an interesting one. Are you planning to tune in?
