Scotty McCreery Refutes Lauren Alaina Dating Rumors

It looks like the 'American Idol' romance between Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina was too good to be true. The 17-year-old winner has confirmed that he is not dating the runner-up of the competition.

"I'm still single," he tells Us Magazine. "I don't want a girl who likes me because I'm the American Idol; I just want them to like me because I'm Scotty. That's a hard thing to find, but it'll work out sometime."

After acting ever-so-evasive after the finale, Alaina is finally fessing up. "We're just really good friends. We really care about each other," Alaina admits. "Everyone wants us to like each other, but we just don't."

However, the 16-year-old Georgia native isn't completely closed-off to the possibility of dating McCreery one day. "You never know what's going to happen 10 years down the road, but I doubt it," she says. "I think we'll always be really good friends."
