Shailene Woodley Opens Up About George Clooney, Miles Teller + Global Politics
Lately, Shailene Woodley has spent a lot of time answering questions about herself and her career. Whether she's discussing Jennifer Lawrence comparisons or being homeless, fans can't get enough of 'The Fault in Our Stars' actress. Recently, George Clooney, who starred in 'The Descendants' with Shailene, put in his two cents on her success.
“Shailene can do whatever she wants,” George told Vanity Fair. “If she wants to be a movie star, she has it. If she wants to change the world, she will. Her talent and kindness go hand in hand.”
It seems the admiration is mutual, as Shailene tells the magazine, "He has been an angel in my life for many reasons. He knew everyone’s name on set. He treated everyone as an equal and everyone got his warmth.”
Shailene has received a lot of attention for her unconventional lifestyle. (Remember when she casually talked about sunbathing her lady parts?) She admits that while she has strong opinions, she knows the world isn't necessarily interested in them.
“As much as this industry is a platform for talking about big issues, there’s also so many f---in’ issues. You could talk about Russia, or Argentina, or fracking, or G.M.O.s," she said. "Maybe the only thing that I’m supposed to do is just show up and be me in every moment. Because I do feel like one of my gifts is to be open and lovely — simple things like smiling at strangers and having kind, small interactions. I think that is what’s going to ultimately shift things.”
When talk turned to her 'The Spectacular Now' co-star, Miles Teller, she opened up about their unique camaraderie.
“I look at Miles and, like, I’m sort of Julia Roberts in the same way she is to George," Shailene explained. "Their relationship I could see being our relationship in 20 years, and that really is special.”
