Rapper Wale brings new life to the 1992 Kris Kross anthem 'Jump' on a freestyle he released today via Twitter as the latest offering in his Wale Wednesday free music series.

"We gonna have some fun tonight," the rapper promises as the instrumental track from 'Jump' begins. The backing track leaves the original chorus intact but removes the verses, allowing Wale to fill them with his own thoughts about sex, drugs, Facebook and more, as he says "bonjour to broke" and boasts that he's "poppin' somethin' that's forbidden in every single 50."

His favorite theme on the song is his rise to fame: "They was callin' me Legend before they called me a rookie / They was callin' the Feds, now they call me for booking."

The song fades out after two-and-half-minutes as Wale repeats the brag, "Self-made!"

Aside from drawing attention to a song many people haven't thought about in years (where are Daddy Mac and Mac Daddy these days, anyway?), Wale's cover of 'Jump' may help ignite greater interest in his recent material, like his new track, 'The Break Up Song.'

If it's been 19 years since you listened to 'Jump,' check out the Jermaine Dupri-produced original version by Kris Kross.
