After months of auditions and the consideration of countless young Hollywood hunks — from Miles Teller to Ansel Elgort — Disney has reportedly finally found its new Han Solo for its Star Wars spinoff: Alden Ehrenreich.

Deadline reports that the 26-year-old Hail, Caesar! star beat out Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor, two other front-runners for the role, and is currently in final negotiations to seal the deal. Most notably, the young actor starred in 2013's YA witch film Beautiful Creatures, as well as Woody Allen's Academy Award-winning Blue Jasmine that same year. He is currently slated to appear in Warren Beatty's yet untitled "Howard Hughes project," due for a fall release this year.

As for the highly anticipated forthcoming Han Solo spinoff, the film will track the events in the scruffy nerf herder's youth prior to his involvement with Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, but no other details have been revealed. It's unlikely that the story will follow the narratives explored in the Star Wars Expanded Universe books and comics about Solo's life before A New Hope, storylines that were de-canonized following Disney's acquisition of the franchise.

Expected to be called Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, keeping in brand with this year's Rogue One, the film is slated for release in March 2018. It will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the same team behind The Lego Movie, and will be produced by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.
