‘American Idol’ Offers Enrique Iglesias Judging Spot
We guess this gives credence to the rumors of searching for a Latin judge! 'American Idol' has offered Enrique Iglesias a judging spot.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Iglesias, who's currently on tour with former 'Idol' judge Jennifer Lopez, was reportedly offer $4 million for a year on the panel. Iglesias' deal is about level with country star Keith Urban's.
Following the exits of all of the judges, the panel is said to be expanding to four seats this season. Nicki Minaj is still in negotiations with 'Idol' and is said to be thisclose to signing the deal, but her Pepsi endorsement deal is posing some difficulties with the Coca-Cola-sponsored show. Mariah Carey signed on to be come the highest paid reality TV judge ever, pocketing a cool $18 million for the job.
Others in line for a judging slot? Adam Lambert is said to still be in consideration should Iglesias' deal fall through, and Nick Jonas was reportedly close to signing his own contract with the show, though news around him has been pretty quiet lately.
'Idol' allegedly made huge offers to both Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, who each turned them down because of scheduling and career conflicts. Alanis Morissette claimed to be in talks for an 'Idol' judging deal, but then came out saying they're bad for singer-songwriters -- sounds like sour grapes to us! Kanye West was also in talks to join the judges, and as he's no stranger to reality TV (and has connections to Ryan Seacrest), he may be a shoe-in if all other negotiations fall through.
