Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man records a farewell message as he floats in a spacecraft with no food or water in Friday's first trailer for Avengers: Endgame.

"Part of the journey is the end," the usually sarcastic Stark says solemnly.

The 2 1/2-minute preview reminds viewers that Josh Brolin's villain Thanos succeeded in his mission to wipe out half of the living creatures on Earth in the last moments of this year's Avengers: Infinity War.

Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman,) Spider-Man (Tom Holland,) Groot (Vin Diesel,) Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch,) Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) are among those who disappeared.

Captain America (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) are seen in the trailer discussing a plan to bring everyone back from wherever Thanos sent them.

Their fellow Avengers Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) who were not in Infinity War, as well as Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Bruce Banner/Hulk, are also spotted in the clip.

The film is set for theatrical release in April.
