On Sunday, August 7, Big Boi of famed rap duo OutKast was arrested on drug charges in Miami, Fla. According to Miami-Dade County Jail’s web site (via MTV), the 'Shutterbug' rapper was arrested on three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. The drugs Big Boi was allegedly caught with were MDMA powder, ecstasy pills, and Viagra.

Big Boi, AKA Antwan Patton, was apparently arrested as he was leaving a cruise line. The 36 year old was detained by customs, who were also equipped with border patrol canines. According to several reports from various media outlets, Big Boi was booked and processed this afternoon in Miami after he returned to the states from a vacation in Puerto Rico and Grand Turk Island.

Although Big Boi was arrested just a few hours prior, he posted a tweet to his official Twitter page around 5:40 PM EST reading, "Fresh Out Baby !" Even if Big Boi made bail (which was set at $16,000) and is free from the Pre-Trial Detention Center in Miami that was housing him, he could be facing a long road ahead of him. Miami-Dade County officials said that all of his charges would be considered felonies.

Big Boi's lawyer Daniel Kane released a statement following the arrest. It read, "While BIG BOI was traveling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage. I am confident when the entire facts are aired BIG BOI will be completely exonerated."
