After being fired from the judges panel of the US version of 'X Factor,' Cheryl Cole is channeling her emotions into a set of new songs that will appear on the British singer's third studio album.

Last month, Cole was ousted from the singing competition, and more recently replaced by Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, according to producers. She reportedly turned down the offer to rejoin the UK version of the show, and, according to the Daily Mirror, is working new material for her upcoming album.

"Cheryl’s time and energy is going into her music and writing songs," a source said. "She is putting her emotions down on paper. A lot of the tracks she writes are likely to be about how she is feeling right now."

The UK paper reports that Cole will head to Los Angeles this week to record with songwriter Wayne Wilkins, who produced the vocalist's No. 1 singles 'Fight for This Love' and 'Promise This.' "She wants to prove to everyone that she’s a great pop star and is in control of her own destiny and doesn’t need to rely on others," the source added.

The Daily Mirror also reports that Cole has parted ways with manager Hilary Shaw, is now being represented by will.i.am, although neither the singer nor the Black Eyed Peas member have confirmed the business relationship.
