Christina Grimmie rose to prominence the modern way -- by becoming a YouTube celebrity! -- so it's especially awesome to see her take the stage on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show,' performing her single, 'Liar Liar.' Grimmie spent the summer opening for Selena Gomez‘s We Own the Night tour, and now the precocious 17-year-old is taking her newfound star status to a whole new level with a stunning performance of the track.

In the clip, Grimmie highlights her serious pipes, accompanied only by her piano — making her sound a little more sophisticated than your average pop tart. She's an especially good fit for 'Ellen,' who's been instrumental in launching some other YouTube success stories, like Lady Gaga-covering wunderkind Greyson Chance. 'Liar Liar' is lifted from her debut album 'Find Me,' which reached No. 11 on the Digital Albums chart earlier this summer — an unusual accomplishment for an independently-released artist. Looks like all that word-of-mouth buzz is really paying off!

Grimmie recently reached the milestone of amassing over one million YouTube fans, due to her high-profile spot opening for Gomez and particularly well-chosen covers, like her rocked-out cover of Lil Wayne‘s ‘How to Love' and Demi Lovato's gorgeous 'Skyscraper.' We're guessing this won't be Grimmie's last performance on network television — her star is seriously on the rise.
