Rapper Del the Funkee Homosapien is probably the most well-known member of the Bay Area rap group Hieroglyphics. He made his first recorded appearance on his cousin Ice Cube's album 'Amerikkka's Most Wanted.'

But it was his debut single, 'Mistadobalina,' from his 1991 debut album, 'I Wish My Brother George Was Here,' that put him in the rap spotlight. His eccentric rhymes made songs like 'Ahonetwo, Ahonetwo' and 'Sleeping on My Couch' such fun listens.

Displeased with being an artist on a major label, Del went the indie route and helped develop the group's Hieroglyphics name into an independent record company. Under the banner, the 40-year-old rhyme-slinger released modestly successful albums by himself, as well as Hiero's first group album '3rd Eye Vision.' The company also boasts an eco-friendly clothing line, as well.

Del continues to champion the independent artist movement and often releases free music on the Internet, so keep an eye and an ear out for him.
