The iPhone has never looked or sounded as sexy as it does in the new iPhone 5s commercial featuring the breathy vocals of Alison Goldfrapp.

She's the singer of electropop duo Goldfrapp, whose 2005 hit 'Ooh La La' sets the tone for the ad. The music of the pulsing electro track is matched with close-up, slow-motion shots of glistening metal as it is molded into its familiar shape on the iPhone. The ad fades out with a shot of the iPhone in action with its apps on the screen.

'Ooh La La' reached No. 1 on the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart and scored a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. It was a single from the album 'Supernature,' which sold more than a million copies worldwide.

Hearing 'Ooh La La' in the iPhone ad is a bit surprising, since Apple has a history of using its iPhone commercials to break new songs, rather than recycle old ones. Feist's '1,2,3,4' and Yael Naim's 'New Soul' were two famous examples of relatively unknown songs that became hits after the exposure in Apple ads. Imagine Dragons, Sleigh Bells and Of Monsters and Men are among some of the up-and-coming bands featured in recent Apple ads.
