Jasmine Villegas, aka Jasmine V, has released a lyric video for her latest song, 'Werk.' The song will appear on Villegas' debut studio album, which is still in the works (no pun intended).

In 'Werk,' Villegas displays her love for hip-hop and R&B, with a stripped-down beat that is focused on the different 808 percussive elements throughout the verses. During the pre-chorus, 'Werk' picks up with a rising synth. The lyrics are super sassy, with Villegas telling her guy that he is has to try his hardest if he wants to win her heart.

"You can't be pushin' up on it / You better work if you want it / Don't even call me / If you got about two, three other boos / Cause if you want me / You gon' have to give more than usual / Won't be no playin' / Boy my time is just way too valuable," Villegas rhythmically sings at the start of the song.

During 'Werk,' the 17-year-old pop singer tries to channel the power diva within herself, with influences from artists like Beyonce and Ciara shining through. However, Villegas tends to fall short with this track. The song's lyrics are a bit grating on the nerves, and Villegas' rising pitch at the end of every other line in the song starts to get old very quickly. Despite this, we know this teen star has a very bright future ahead of her, and we are anxious to see what other songs she churns out.

Villegas has already filmed the video for 'Werk,' and 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant Romeo stars as 17-year-old Villegas' love interest. Villegas tweeted a picture of her with Romeo on the set, writing, "Me and the talented @romeomiller on set of #werk .. what total gentleman and great person : )." Romeo also tweeted about working with Villegas, saying, "Enjoyed filming w/ @JASMINEVILLEGAS today. Your a star baby girl ; )."
