Ne-Yo hit the scene in 2006 as part of a new generation of soul men, and while he’s still comfortable dropping R&B ballads on the world, the singer has been more and more eager to stretch out into synthpop and dance music.

Ne-Yo is no stranger to Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Songs chart after collaborating with Pitbull on ‘Give Me Everything,’ a dance smash built around whirring synths. In 2012, Ne-Yo made his most obvious foray into dance when he teamed up with EDM hitmaker Calvin Harris on ‘Let’s Go,’ which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording.

Even as he continues to fold these new genres into his music, as on his recent hit 'Let Me Love You,' Ne-Yo says his records will still reflect his own style: "I told myself if I'm going to do this dance music or electronic or techno or whatever it is, I need to do it from a standpoint of making mine stand out from everybody else's, meaning a Ne-Yo dance record is going to have some kind of depth in the lyrics, because the lyrics is who I am."
