Phillip Phillips Reportedly Wants Out of His ‘American Idol’ Contract
Yikes! According to a report from TMZ, former 'American Idol' contestant and season eleven winner, Phillip Phillips, wants to end his current contract with the show. He is reportedly claiming that his career is being stifled by the company's unfair contract.
The report goes on to say that Phillip feels 19 Entertainment has too much control over his career for his own liking. He cites a specific concert as an example, in which he had to perform a free show for JetBlue and was allegedly not allowed to decline as it benefited the live concert tour for 'American Idol.' He also goes to say that their control over his career eventually reached the point where he had no say over the title of one of his albums and didn't even find out what it was until he heard it from someone else.
Phillip is asking to be let out of his contract, reportedly claiming it's "illegal." A rep for 19 Entertainment released a statement to TMZ saying, "We have always acted in the best interest of Phillip. We will vigorously defend ourselves from any baseless claims to the contrary and from any attempt to interfere with our rights and relationships."
