Robin Thicke and Alexis Foster took the stage on 'Duets' tonight (June 7) to deliver their steamy, sizzling rendition of 'Killing Me Softly,' last popularized by Lauryn Hill and the Fugees. It was the first elimination of the competition, so Foster needed to bring it. So was it brought?

Well, vocally speaking, she played off Thicke beautifully. He certainly exudes physical chemistry with his duet partners, undressing them withhis  eyes and manipulating them with that blue-eyed soul voice. Seriously, we've said it before but it's enough to have his wife, actress Paula Patton, doing double takes.

Even with that "distraction," Foster's lovely voice was clear as a bell and sounded good. But Thicke definitely factored so heavily into the performance that is subtracted a tiny bit of the focus from Foster, who is performing for survival, as opposed to Thicke, who already has an established, successful career.

Some of the judge's panel felt there was disconnect between Foster and Thicke but if critiquing on her voice alone, Foster killed it. It was a quality performance. But will it stand up against her competitors? That remains to be seen. It was good, but not show-stoppingly great.
