One Direction: The quintet skyrocketed to superstardom overnight, although they’ve been at it together for three years strong now. In 2012, the British-Irish boy band dropped their second studio album ‘Take Me Home,’ and their subsequent singles (‘Live While We’re Young,’ ‘Little Things,’ ‘Kiss You’) have all become mega hits for the quintet. They’ve also got sold-out tour dates scheduled for the next few months throughout the globe, and have done everything this year from being immortalized in wax to nabbing BRIT Awards.
The Wanted: These funny boys had massive success throughout 2012 and 2013, garnering them things like People’s Choice Awards and a Top 10 EP on the Billboard charts. Although they have kind of become rivals of 1D over the past couple of years, bringing some negative attention to both boy bands, they have no problem standing strong on their own, with a legion of loyal fans that cannot get enough of singles like ‘I Found You’ and ‘Walks Like Rihanna.’ We can’t wait for their long-awaited album to finally drop!
Big Time Rush: This quartet has been churning out amazing pieces of pure pop perfection for years now, and their most recent releases (2012’s ‘Windows Down,’ and 2013’s ‘Like Nobody’s Around’) have been mega hits among Rushers and pop fans alike. They’ve also got a hugely successful TV show, a nationwide summer tour with Victoria Justice on lock, and a brand-new album due out this June.
Maroon 5: The Grammy-winning pop-rock band have been killing it throughout 2012 and 2013, riding high with chart-topping ‘Overexposed’ singles like ‘Payphone,’ ‘One More Night,’ ‘Daylight,’ and most recently, ‘Love Somebody,’ which is still working its way up the charts. They’ve got a summer tour planned with Kelly Clarkson, and were nominated for a bunch of Grammys this year, including Best Pop Vocal Album (not to mention frontman Adam Levine‘s gig on this little show called ‘The Voice’).
fun.: The trio had one of the biggest and best albums of 2012 with ‘Some Nights,’ scoring 2013 Grammy awards for Song of the Year (‘We Are Young’) as well as the Best New Artist gramophone trophy. Their singles like the aforementioned ‘We Are Young,’ as well as ‘Some Nights,’ ‘Carry On’ and ‘Why Am I the One’ have become huge hits for the band, and the trio have performed at all kinds of festivals and award shows (on top of their own touring schedule), and their live shows are truly something to witness.
