Alex Newell brought everyone to their feet with his rendition of "I Know Where I've Been," from the hit musical Hairspray, at the Sixth Annual Los Angeles GLAAD Media Awards.

Taking place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel Saturday night (March 21), the Glee star, who played transgendered character Wade "Unique" Adams on the show, gave an emotional performance of the song.

Beginning delicately, Newell's performance crescendos with emotion as a choir joins him on the song. And at that moment, the actor/singer, who is at work on his own album, shuts his eyes and puts his heart into the song. Clearly everyone felt it, too, and jumped to their feet with cheers and applause.

Glee was also honored with the Special Recognition Award. You can find the full list of winners at the GLAAD Media Awards here.
