This year's crop of 'American Idol' contestants are about to make a lot of 'Idol' watchers feel reaaaallllly old thanks to this week's challenge, as the hopefuls will cover songs from the year during which they were born. Many of the contestants were born in the late '80s and early '90s, so be prepared to be drunk on nostalgia when 'Idol' airs this week.

In honor of this exciting and creative challenge, PopCrush picked songs that we'd like to see three of our favorite contestants perform from the year of their birth. Thinking about it was like stepping into a time warp and we are anxious to see how the contestants handles songs that were played repeatedly on the radio from two and three decades ago, when pop music was much different and songs were as big as the hair, full of synthesizers but devoid of AutoTune. In honor of that, here are our three humble suggestions!

Casey Abrams: Abrams, who was hospitalized last week, was born in 1991, making him a tender 20 years old. While he was wearing diapers, sucking on a pacifier and depending entirely on his parental units, R.E.M.'s moody but melody-laced 'Losing My Religion' was one of the year's most popular, resonant tunes. Thanks to his emotional, rock-with-a-capital-R vibe, we'd like to see Abrams put his raspy, unorthodox spin on this unforgettable song.

Pia Toscano: Toscano made her grand entrance onto the world stage in 1988, which was fabulously diverse year for music. Hello! Whitney Houston, George Michael, Gloria Estefan, INXS, Debbie Gibson and George Harrison all scored major hits from different genres. Since Toscano likes ballads sung by women, as evidenced by the way she belted out Celine Dion and the Pretenders, we'd like to see her shift gears (but not change cars entirely) and take on male-driven song, like George Michael's somber, emotive 'Father Figure.' She could work her magic on this classic, backed by a choir.

James Durbin: Durbin's range is never in question -- so what other singer do you know who could tackle heavy metal in the form of Judas Priest one week and Paul McCartney the next? Well, we'd like to see the Durbinator try his hand at Bon Jovi's ‘I'll Be There for You,' a romantic, breathy, sultry song with a huge vocal note at the end. Durbin could nail it and once again show his sensitive side.

In addition, Thursday night's celebrity performers include last year 'Idol' winner Lee DeWyze and Superbowl veteran performances the Black Eyed Peas. Check out the contestants performances this Wednesday night at 8PM ET on FOX.
