Beyonce is proving that girls really do run the world, even in a male-dominated event like football. Rumor is the singer, designer, superstar and mother of Blue Ivy will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show in February 2013, taking the baton from Madonna, who performed last year and received rave reviews for her efforts.

Bey, who dropped out of the Clint Eastwood-helmed remake of 'A Star is Born' due to scheduling conflicts, has moved quickly to replace one high-profile gig with another!

A source close to Super Bowl XLVII told The Associate Press (via The New York Post) that Bey will indeed provide the halftime entertainment on Feb. 3 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The insider was not authorized to publicly confirm the news. So it's all a matter of speculation…

…until the news is announced on Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Bey has history with the biggest TV event of the year, having sang the national anthem at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004, which was held in her hometown of Houston, Texas. Perhaps it's time to return to the Super Bowl and take it up a notch?

We're already wondering who Beyonce will have perform with her during the set. It's likely her hubby Jay-Z will get the nod, and perhaps some of her former Destiny's Child bandmates. Maybe she'll extend an invite to her 'Telephone' duet partner Lady Gaga?

We're also thinking about her possible set list and what she will wear! So exciting. If Bey is indeed the performer for this event, all we have to say is nice work, NFL.

Do you think Beyonce is a good choice for Super Bowl XLVII's halftime show?
