Beyonce No Longer Attached to ‘A Star Is Born’
Bad news for Beyonce fans. So many bees in the Beyhive were stoked for the singer's turn in 'A Star Is Born,' but now the multi-hyphenate star has left the project.
Clint Eastwood was set to direct the remake of the classic film, which only excited film and Beyonce buffs even more, but sources revealed to Variety that the lack of a start date posed an issue. Between her own records and balancing work with Blue Ivy, the lack of a timetable made scheduling too difficult for Bey, who was set to reprise Barbra Streisand's role in the film.
Production on the film was first stalled because of Beyonce's pregnancy, and once Blue Ivy was born, Eastwood had already taken an acting role alongside Justin Timberlake in 'Trouble With the Curve.' Another complication? No male lead has been cast yet, further delaying even scheduling filming of the movie.
One rumored replacement for Queen Bey is said to be jazz singer Esperanza Spaulding, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper, Tom Cruise, Christian Bale and Johnny Depp all said to be (or have been) in talks for the male lead.
This doesn't mean that Bey will be absent from the silver screen entirely, though. She's one of the lead voices in the Fox animated feature 'Epic,' due in theaters May 24, 2013.
