Beyonce Delivers Pitch Perfect National Anthem at Super Bowl Press Conference [Video]
Bey followed her jaw-dropping rendition with thanks, followed by a sweet, sassy and shade filled remark: "Any questions?"
Though she rendered all of her critics completely moot, she did explain her possibly lip-synced Inauguration performance. "I am a perfectionist. One thing about me, I practice until my feet bleed," she said firmly (quotes via PEOPLE). "I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. It was a live television show. It was a very important emotional show for me, one of my proudest moments."
Aside from not having time to rehearse, Beyonce echoed the sentiments of a lot of experts who said the cold temperatures were a risk. "Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk. It was about the President, the Inauguration," she said. Then she got a little quietly sassy: "I wanted to make him and my country proud, so I decided to sing along to my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry."
Set to applause, she added, "I'm very proud of my performance."
One thing she wouldn't address? Whether Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child will join her onstage at the Super Bowl. However, she did say one thing about her Halftime show: "I will absolutely be singing live. This is what I was born to do."
