Frank Ocean, ‘4 Tears’ – Song Review

Frank Ocean is on a roll. A week ago he released the piano-driven ballad 'Girlfriend's Best Friend,' which we totally loved. On Christmas Day, the Los Angeles-based singer released a cool new track called '4 Tears.' "[I] just listened to this a few times for myself. figured maybe some else needed to hear it," he wrote on his Tumblr page.

The song is simple in its production as it only features a grooving bassline, a hip-hop beat and soft plucking keyboards. "Swag, Swag … times two," Ocean says before singing of never crying because he's strong. However, he'll let the water ducts flow if good things happen to his family back home in New Orleans. "If them stars shines too beautiful at night, I'll shed two tears / And when a good word hits home, I'll shed two more tears / Now that's four tears," he croons.

The only downside is that at under two minutes, the song is way too short. Nevertheless, Mr. Ocean shows why he's the most sought-after singer-songwriter in the music game right now. He writes beautiful and emotional songs that you'll want to listen to over and over again.

We can't say it enough -- Frank Ocean is the artist to look out for in 2012.
