Gabriella Cilmi Rocks New Look + Sound in ‘Sweeter in History’ Video

One of our biggest Popcrushes from across the pond is the absolutely exquisite Gabriella Cilmi. She was discovered at the tender age of 13 in her native Australia and whisked away to swinging London town to record her debut album with Xenomania -- the powerhouse producers behind Girls Aloud.

The resulting smash hit, 'Sweet About Me' has generated more than 22 million views on YouTube.

On the eve of her third album, the now 21-year old Cilmi (pronounced "chill me") has shorn her signature locks but kept her signature voice in fine form. Speaking of chills, she took to the streets of Valvori, Italy to shoot the video for 'Sweeter in History' and winds up in a lake, fully clothed!

Look closely at the lake scene and you'll see two Gabriellas -- her old image and new. Gabriella told us "That was kind of a rebirth scene, I started out when I was quite young, so I feel like I am a totally different artist compared to who I was then."

We agree and love her sophisticated new sound -- very confessional and ethereal with a light trip hop vibe.
