The creative, acoustic rendition of Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' that Finn sang on this week's 'I Kissed a Girl' episode of 'Glee' may not have been as original as it sounded. Indie artist Greg Laswell recorded a startlingly similar version a few years back, leading some fans to say that the show ripped off the singer.

Listening to the two songs back to back, it becomes obvious that 'Glee' copied its 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' arrangement from the Laswell version. But should that matter? Every episode of 'Glee' is built around cover songs, after all. And it's still Lauper's song, so does Laswell have a right to feel upset?

He sure seemed angry about it when he posted on Twitter, "Hmm. You know I never even thought of completely ripping off someone's COVER of a song, and I love stealing! Nice job @GLEEonFOX."

Perhaps 'Glee' could have at least mentioned Laswell's name in its credits to give props to the guy who first performed the stripped-down version. But Laswell is getting his publicity now, so perhaps it all worked out fine in the end.
