With 12 nominations in front of them, 'Glee' is slated to shine bright at the 2011 Emmys. Jane Lynch, who will host the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards, spills that she may even have a surprise special appearance in mind for her FOX co-stars.

"As of now, we're still putting together those pieces, and I've pitched a couple of ideas for the cast," Lynch tells AfterElton. "So I bet there'll be an appearance. [But] we haven't finalized it and I don't want to give anything away."

Fortunately for those nominated, Lynch will be playing host, rather than her evil alter-ego Sue Sylvester. "Jane Lynch will be nicer than Sue Sylvester. Sue Sylvester would make the show explosive. You would walk away with a show you would never forget, if it were Sue Sylvester," Lynch explains. "But it might be kind of war-like and angry and violent. I think a show with Jane Lynch would be a lot nicer and easier to digest."

If the no-good cheerleading coach were to dominate the mic, Lynch says the winners would likely go home empty handed. When asked what tips she thinks Sylvester would give her on hosting, the actress said, "Find a way to give all of the awards to yourself, I think would probably be her advice."

Like Lea Michele said a few weeks back, when 'Glee' returns for Season 3, they will be going "back to basics." Lynch confirms that that is true, adding that the show will play on the characters' original story lines, rather than jump around too much. "We had a great season last year, but we did kind of go all over the place with guest stars and had a lot of fun," she admits. "We're kind of honing in on these stories of these kids, especially [because] several of them will be graduating at the end of the year."

The Emmys air live on FOX on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8PM ET, just two days before 'Glee' Season 3 kicks off on Sept. 20.
