Apparently divorcing her ex-husband Russell Brand wasn’t quite enough for Katy Perry. The pop star is looking to clear her marriage slate by seeking an annulment.

The 29-year-old singer married the 39-year-old comedian in a Hindu ceremony back in 2010, and split two years later in 2012. While the two are already legally divorced, an annulment of the marriage would deem it null and void, meaning one day Katy could be married in a Catholic Church again.

“Although they’ve been divorced for years now, Katy wants a clean slate and has started the process to wipe the first marriage from her record,” a source told MSN. “She’s trying to get Russell to agree, but so far he’s not cooperating. They still don’t speak. She is going through his people, but so far she isn’t hearing anything back.”

It makes sense that Katy — whose parents are both pastors — would want to have the option to have a traditional Catholic wedding for her next marriage, an option unavailable to her with a divorce on her record.

The source added, “It’s important to her parents that the quickie wedding does not count in the church and she doesn’t understand why Russell can’t do that for her parents.”

Considering Katy and Russell haven't been on the best of terms since their divorce, it's hard to say whether Russell will respond to Katy's efforts.
