Lena Dunham

The creator, writer and star of the HBO hit show ‘Girls,’ Lena Dunham is known for her honest, brash, boundary-busting material. Born in 1986 in New York City to a pair of artists, Dunham began making films while obtaining a creative writing degree at Oberlin College. After graduating, she returned back home and began work on the independent feature ‘Tiny Furniture.’ The film won an award at the South by Southwest Film Festival -- and grabbed the attention of Judd Apatow, who would go on to executive-produce ‘Girls.’ The series, which premiered in 2012, has brought Dunham popular and critical acclaim, including Emmy nominations and Golden Globe awards. In 2014, she published a memoir, ‘Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s “Learned.”’
