The celebrity coaches of 'The Voice' -- Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine, pop diva Christina Aguilera, flamboyant soul singer/rapper Cee Lo Green, and country star Blake Shelton -- each finished assembling their eight-person singing teams on the second episode of series tonight in different ways.

Before we go too much further, is everyone up to speed on the rules and our week one recap? OK, good, so then you know each of our coaches had five singers to pick this week. Accordingly, everything moved quicker this week, with some chosen contestants only being shown in brief clips instead of full-song performances.

Aguilera once again seemed to dominate the proceedings, acting as unofficial host when it came time for a singer to choose between two or more potential mentors and generally moving the conversation forward whenever possible. You can read more about how and why she chose her five new team members here.

As for Cee Lo Green, he managed the difficult trick of being both the coolest one in the room and the most picked on, primarily at the hands of Shelton and on account of his past fashion choices. His sunny personality and knowledgeable confidence shined through all night, and as you can read here, he's built himself a pretty good team too.

As you'll read here, Shelton cracked the best one-liners of the night and remained unswayed when two hopefuls covered songs by his fiancee, Miranda Lambert, choosing neither of them for his squad. He passed up several country singers in fact, instead targeting "earthy" singers who he truly felt had something unique he could help develop.

Levine took the most time assembling his squad, with only six of the eight spots filled when each contestant had taken their turn at the microphone.  No worries, though, as the producers simply had some of the best of the unchosen candidates take a crack at a second song. Soon enough, Levine had a team he was happy with.

He also made one of the night's boldest statements, praising the overall skill of the contestants by declaring that "the people that we're not turning our chairs around for could win 'American Idol.'" He says 'The Voice' is after something more: "That extra thing, that unbelievable extra spectacular mind-blowing thing."

As the "Battle Rounds" start next week, and each coach is forced to pit his newly chosen singers against each other in order to create the strongest team possible, we'll see if the talent level is truly up to that standard.
