Bike – 2013 SXSW Survival Guide
Walking around between venues, hotels and conventions at the SXSW Festival can be not only exhausting, but also time consuming. If you're not into public transportation -- think crowded buses and shuttles -- you may want to consider renting a bicycle.
Not only will bikes get you around faster than traipsing around on foot, but they're also more likely to be available and useful than cars will. A lot of streets are closed off and parking is extremely limited in Austin during the festival.
SXSW actually has its own bike share program, SX Cycles, which is free but requires a deposit. You'll snag a foldable bike, a helmet, a lock and lights.
Rather ride the back of a bike than steer your own? Pedicabs and taxis are all over Austin, but they're going to cost a bit more ... and you may not get nearly as much exercise!
