Besides motherhood, Alicia Keys is giving birth to another project that's very close to her heart. The R&B songbird is producing a Broadway play called 'Stick Fly.' Not only that, she is also creating music for the highly-anticipated production that's presently in rehearsals.

The tricky part is that 'Stick Fly' is not a musical, but a dramatic play about a rich black family's weekend gathering on Martha’s Vineyard. So to incorporate music seamlessly into the production without disrupting the story line will be the challenge.

But Keys seems to have it all figured out and is excited about her musical endeavors in a new medium. "As someone who walked up and down this boulevard as a young girl, I cannot describe the thrill of having the opportunity of composing songs for a Broadway show," she says. “I love the humor and humanity of Stick Fly, and I’m so excited to be a part of the emotional journey this show will take audiences on.”

'Stick Fly,' which stars actors Dulé Hill, Dulé Hill, Mekhi Phifer, Tracie Thoms and others, will start previewing in New York on Nov. 18 and officially open to the public on Dec. 8.
