Andre 3000: ‘No Plans for Another Outkast Album’
Sorry, Outkast fans. Andre 3000 has poo-pooed any talk of a reunion with Big Boi anytime soon.
In a conversation with GQ (via Pitchfork), Andre 3000 revealed, "There's been a lot of talk on the Internet about an Outkast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another Outkast album."
Andre's take is different from Big Boi's, who said in July that Andre would likely duet with him for his next solo album, ‘Daddy Fat Sax.’ "I think it’s very much possible because we have L.A. Reid in our corner now, and he was the first to sign OutKast," he told Rolling Stone, referring to the 'X Factor' judge’s new position as CEO & Chairman of Epic Records. "L.A. has permission to make it happen now. So I hope it does, and I don’t really see why it won’t."
This isn't to say there won't be new material from Andre 3000, though. "There's a lot of music on the horizon. I've been living off the excitement of new artists," he gushed. "I've been privileged to have these new artists kind of reach out and grab back and say, 'Hey, Andre, we want you on this song.' So I've been taking those calls and for the last two years, I've been doing collaborations. So these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive." We guess he really digs his work with Kesha, Young Jeezy and B.o.B.!
What else does Andre 3000 have in store? "I've just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I'm planning to do a solo project. I don't know when it will come out, but hopefully it'll come out this year. As far as Outkast, I really don't know if or when that will happen."
