Aretha Franklin has been doing her fair share of promo for her upcoming covers album 'Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics,' but technology turned on the songstress this morning (Oct. 22). A shoddy satellite feed made for a poor connection between Ms. Franklin and the different television stations interviewing her, resulting in some truly awkward interviews. Whether you blame it on the connection or not, we have to admit her lackluster responses to countless declarations of love from the news anchors has us cracking up.

The first reporter says: "I don't even know what to do! I wanna touch that TV and start kissing it!" to which Aretha responds with a halfhearted chuckle followed by: "Okay." It's the type of reaction only a living legend like Aretha -- who has rightfully earned the diva title over her long and impressive career -- can pull off.

Another reporter says: "I love you" and Aretha perfectly deflects: "Alriiiiight. Is this Fox Two?"

At one point, there's music playing so loudly in her earpiece that Aretha asks the reporters to turn it down, and they all scramble to comply -- because when the Queen of Soul tells you to do something, you do it.

To be fair, there's clearly something wrong with her earpiece, and at one she point explains that she's (somehow) subsisting on a mere four hours of sleep. Still, it makes for some pretty entertaining stuff.

There's no way we could possibly do justice to the awkward video, so you'll have to check out the hilarious compilation (posted above) for yourself!
