Ariel Winter Has a Butt, Okay? Please Just Let Her Live
Can you please just let Ariel Winter's butt live?
The Modern Family star spoke to Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, August 16, where she dished about the controversy often surrounding her body-positive social media posts – particularly, her booty-ful photos.
"I don't really think I'm telling myself, 'You should post this, you shouldn't post that.' I feel like I'm just having fun," Winter told ET during Variety's Power Of Young Hollywood Issue Celebration. "I like my fans to see what I'm doing."
The actress, who has a penchant = for posting titillating photos of her behind (usually displayed in super short-shorts and tiny bikini bottoms), also discussed how she doesn't understand why people are so hung up on her booty, a body part she (accurately) pointed out everyone has.
"Everybody is so hyped up on the fact that I post photos where my butt's out. It's a butt. Everyone has a butt. I don't think it's crazy," she said. "It's like, 'Let me live! I'm enjoying my life, you're enjoying your life, you should be posting your butt if you like it, too!'"
While haters have plagued the comments section of Winter's Instagram for years, the 18-year-old shared that she doesn't take the negativity to heart and refuses to engage with the body-shamers and outfit critics.
"I'm not going to fight with someone on my Instagram that tells me they don't like my outfit or I should put my butt away," she said. "I'm sorry you think I should put my butt away, but just unfollow me."
Though Winter, who underwent breast reduction surgery in 2015, has spoken frequently about feeling confident in her skin, she admitted that she struggled with her body image for years. She also added that it was a specific Modern Family co-star who helped her to embrace her own curves.
"I really had the greatest opportunity to have some wonderful role models, especially Sofia Vergara," she shared. "Working with a curvy beautiful woman that everybody looked up to and loved the way she looked… that was my inspiration to move forward and accept myself because that's what matters."
You do you, Ariel Winter's butt. You do you.
