Oh, where do we begin with Frank Ocean and his studio debut 'Channel Orange?'

Is it the fact that the songs are arranged like TV programs? The socially informed narrative of his storytelling? The straight-up fact that 'Thinkin Bout You' embeds itself into your brain whether you like it or not? Not even Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith or Willow were safe from the addictive nature of the song, having covered it online.

Ocean broaches familiar subjects within the genre, but he does so in an entirely new way, which is not easy to do. But it's the combination of both his lyrical smarts and his smooth R&B style that make 'Channel Orange' one of the best albums of 2012.
