In 2012, reality TV singing competitions really stepped up their game, with the judging panels on several shows racing to outdo one another with star power. Bringing all of the drama, the contestants, and the judges into account, which has been your favorite reality singing competition to keeps tabs on during 2012?

Things got shaken up on 'X Factor' this year when Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were replaced for the second season by superstar songstress Britney Spears and teen queen (who's actually 20 years old now) Demi Lovato. Both of the women proved strong additions to the already impressive judging panel consisting of Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid, with Brit showing off her sassy side and Demi tapping into our emotional zone. Season 2 of 'X Factor' is still in full swing, so we'll have to wait to find out the winner.

Meanwhile, 'The Voice' has become one of primetime's heavyweight contenders, with tons of Americans tuning in each week to catch Adam Levine and Blake Shelton bro'ing out. Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green also deliver some diva-like behavior to the small screen, and of course, the contestants on this show are incredibly talented. There was also news of Xtina and Cee Lo getting replaced by Shakira and Usher next season, while Adam and Blake are supposedly sticking around.

Perhaps the biggest story surrounding any of these reality tv shows, however, had to be the feud between new 'American Idol' judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. While Phillip Phillips was crowned the winner of Season 11 and J. Lo and Steven Tyler packed their bags, some fresh judges were needed for the Season 12 panel. Although the new episodes won't even premiere until Jan. 2013, we've already had an entire season's worth of drama thanks to the feuding between divatrons Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. Poor Keith Urban must not even know what to do with himself...

And even though 'X Factor,' The Voice' and 'American Idol' make up the triumvirate of reality singing shows, we can't forget about 'Duets,' which debuted in late Spring 2012. Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Robin Thicke and Sugarland vocalist Jennifer Nettles acted as judges on the inaugural season, and each took on more of a mentoring role for the contestants. What really sets this show apart is the fact that the judges "duet" (get it?) with their contestants every week, and are competing for the championship themselves.
