Bishop Briggs Was Turned Away From Two Barber Shops Because She’s a Woman
Bishop Briggs has the easiest haircut in the world — she's been shaving her head for over a year now — but apparently that doesn't matter to establishments that consider themselves strictly male businesses.
On Monday (December 17), the singer-songwriter took to Twitter to air her frustration after she was turned away from not one, but two barber shops because of her gender.
"TWO BARBER SHOPS TURNED ME AWAY TODAY AND SAID NO WOMEN ALLOWED. WTF WTF," she wrote. "THIS FEELS SO BACKWARDS WHAT!"
Though barber shops historically offer services for men, it's 2019 and she's asking for something we all know the business can accommodate: someone to shave her head! It shouldn't matter that she's female.
The 27-year-old originally chopped off her signature buns last October to show solidarity with her friend Arax who was beginning chemotherapy to treat breast cancer. “I felt this was something small I could do to show my support. I love you!” she wrote in her Instagram story. She also shared a photo of herself in a styling chair before shaving off her locks. “Dreamt of this since I was 14 tbh," she wrote.
